Full Description:

The Fremont Rotary and SunInSeattle Productions are pleased to announce that the Guatemalan Nights Party at History House was a terrific event and very successful as the culmination of our Fremont Underground Soup Nights 2003. The party began with a colorful swirl of Baile Folklorico de Mexico, with costumes and dances that drenched the senses with the feeling of Old Mexico. Tasty appetizers of the regions emerged from the kitchen donated by MamasBrownBag lunch service next door. Soups donated by Red Apple and Bouchee were complemented by savory tamales, empanadas and other regional dishes. Ed Hartman's marimba seranaded the guests as they left after the presentation and auction. Mary Clark and Linda Wheeler gave a comprehensive power point slide presentation; Susan McClosky told us about the programs at BF Day school and gave a bit of the school's history. Ole and Rex, Fremont Rotary, acted as auctioneers for the many great items donated to the benefit. Students from Ballard, Roosevelt and Garfield High Schools served, cooked, decorated and cleaned up as part of their community service programs. The Soup Night benefit series brought in enough funds to make our pledge to the Guatemalan Clinics, provide over $800 for food vouchers to BF Day, with a bit left over for seed money for next year's event. We thank everyone who participated: Bouchee French Musette Trio Frame Up ToST Lisa Harris Del Rey and The Yes Yes Boys Bitters Hale's The Exile's/Kevin Gow and Laura Lovell Fremont Gardens Still Life Mary Grider Russ Mead as Tarot Card reader Dad Watson's Stanislove The Fremont Philharmonic Red Door Dandelion "Abe Lincoln" Ballroom Frank and Dunya Curt Boozer's Jazz Ensemble Red Apple Essential Bakery Kaosamai Thai Bronson Edwards Duo Fremont Classic Pizzaria and Trattoria Julie Cassiopo Pat Carey History House Ed Hartman/Olympic Productions Mamas Brown Bag BF Day Elementary School International Wholesale Florist/David Adams American Music Pro Lab Pilsner K-2 Sports Health First Chiropractic/Dr. Chris Wolff Perfect Copy and Print Starbucks in Fremont Market Time PCC Fremont Dock/ Mike Osterfield ...and all the wonderful folks in Fremont Rotary and the greater Fremont Community who supported the events.
