Full Description:

For IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Robin Norton 206.910.8354 robin@niaseattle.com Nia – First & Original Fusion Mind-Body Fitness Program Offers First Jam for Area Sampling The Nia Technique, a well-being fitness and lifestyle practice, will be celebrated at NiaSeattle’s first Nia Jam on Saturday, May 22, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. The newly formed Puget Sound teachers’ association is inviting Nia teachers and students from Bellingham to Olympia to experience and sample the teaching styles of some of the 17 area teachers who offer over 50 classes in the region. The event is being held at the Pacific Center for the Cultural Arts, 2210 N. Pacific Street, Seattle WA 98103; $10 at the door. Through expressive movement – The Body’s Way – Nia empowers people to achieve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and well-being. Nia changes peoples’ lives. NiaSeattle invites every body to discover the power and joy of this unique combination of dance arts, martial arts and yoga. In 1983, Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas developed the Nia Technique when they took off their shoes and moved away from the “no pain, no gain” concept of high impact aerobics and created the “pleasure principle” of grounded cardiovascular movement and a new genre of fitness known today as “Mind Body Fitness.” Reviewed in the New York Times and called “hot, hot, hot,” by Vogue, Nia is being taught at The Cooper Institute, the Dean Ornish Institute, in many top spas, gyms and heath clubs, schools, dance studios, universities, wellness centers and hospitals throughout the world. Over the past 20 years, Debbie and Carlos have trained over a thousand teachers who now offer Nia in 26 countries. For more information about classes taught in the area, visit the new web site, http://www.niaseattle.com or check out headquarters web site at http://www.nia-nia.com. 1.800.762.5762
